Each episode places the player in the role of one of the many women taken captive by Sigrid, a pagan shield maiden, hardened by the loss of her family during a bloody massacre. Sigrid survived by escaping into the wilderness where she lived among wolves before earning her way into a band of fearsome warriors. Now she is out for revenge and conquest and you are her newest prisoner.   When Sigrid was but young, her family was killed when a Frankish army led by the merciless Count Roland led a massacre against the heathen people of Saxony. Sigrid was the sole survivor but, having no home to return to, she chose to live wild among the wolves of the forest. When a Valkyrie called Brinhilda came to Sigrid in a vision, her destiny became clear. From that day on, she dedicated her life to building a great army led by her most trusted female commanders. Together, they would reclaim their ancestral lands, and Sigrid would get her revenge.  In spite of her renowned beauty, Sely was born into servitude. Although her most ancient Celtic ancestors were warriors and explorers, the fates have not smiled on her people. For countless generations they have been peasants, but when Ellswynn – a Mercian noble woman – finds her alone bathing on the beach, she finds herself facing a choice that could forever alter her destiny.

  Blenda is a Dane descended from the Germanic tribes that once wreaked havoc upon the Roman Empire itself. She comes from a long line of warriors, but when a group of her treacherous countrymen attacked her village, those who weren’t killed or made slaves scattered across Europe. Blenda, however, refused to hide. Instead, she took up the life of a mercenary and went north to seek out others who resisted the growing Frankish empire. After hearing of the Northmen’s plan to invade Northumbria, she sought out Sigrid to join her ranks. Renown for her strength and courage, Blenda became one of Sigrid’s most trusted commanders and devoted lovers.

  The daughter of Mercian nobility, Ellswynn was raised a Christian and groomed for her place of prominence amongst her people. It was during a visit with her mother to the Northumbrian coast that a group of Vikings, led by the dreaded Sigrid the Black took Ellswynn captive and made the fair Mercian lady her slave. But Sigrid recognized an inner strength in Ellswynn. Over time, she proved herself to be a beloved ally and ultimately a commander in Sigrid’s army.
